At the beginning, you are at a complete loss. Everything seems to happen at lightning speed. A blink of the eye, and the moment is lost. A momentary lapse of concentration, it flies by you. You eventually learn the first lesson - you need to concentrate fully and observe.
Weeks turn to months and months turn to years. Your mind begins to wander. Repeat, and more repetition. Practice, despite their many variations, feels like repetitions. You begin to ponder. Where is the end of the tunnel ?
Then you realise you have been hearing - but not listening. You look - but don't see. As long as your mind is not open to learning, you do not absorb, nor improve. The moment you begin to open your eyes, you realise that every practice is an opportunity for improvement and not merely repeat.
Now, you slowly begin to comprehend. You are on the cusp of discovery - that you are arriving at where you first started - a beginner, albeit, finally and hopefully, a serious beginner.
